double thick
warding off
the north wind
once more
up the snow dusted ladder
one last untangled strand
wound through
apple tree branches
a little more light
on this darkest day
of a dark year
the tired monk
the tired monk
Those apple tree branches are the light for me in this poem - a bright solstice to you..and let's wish for longer hours of brightness..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful..that snow dusted ladder is such a profound image...
ReplyDeletethis is beautiful..."a little more light" our prayer is just that...
ReplyDeleteWell, after today we will have a little more light in the sky...but hopefully we will have a bit more light in the world as well!
ReplyDeleteLovely, lighting up the darkness. Xmas lights are my favourite part of Christmas.
ReplyDeleteNice to bring light into the darkness. I like the feel of this poem. I felt the cold, the monk's fatigue and world's darkness.
ReplyDeleteHave a Merry Christmas.
Lovely write :D wishing you loads of light & happiness.
ReplyDeleteAlas there are many kind of darkness.. it's only the sun that soon will change the days.
ReplyDeleteThe apple tree - the tree of knowledge..may we all learn to grow towards the light.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas tired Monk!
I am sure it looks quite pretty but soon everyone will be displaying light on their house and gardens without the lamps and wiring.
ReplyDeleteYes, a bit more light in our dark reality. Really like this poem,
