A 15 Year Revision

sitting around the staff lounge
talking about the things good people do
a refrain of "he's a bad person" rings

the topic shifts...

weight loss, micro plastics
toxins baked into your very bones
how to fit into your summer pants

he walks away
back to his office
alone

the computer hums

  4. That's why people drop out and lead an alternate life style ...no problems with weight gain and fitting into the summer pants! :)

  5. Empty chit chat can feel like the mental equivalent of an over-sugary drink. Sure there's the initial buzz, but you feel depleted when it wears off.

  6. He needs a friend .... we all need a friend. Your poem is quite clever.

  7. I know the feeling of thinking deeply, surrounded by inane surface chatter. Not everyone is awake. Well said.
