poem duty

snow whips in sideways
pelted face stings

notebook pages twist, rip
frostbit hand settles them

pen darts in quick strokes
finishes poem's last line

even in the midst of the apocalypse
the world needs poems

  1. Yes, and the world especially needs poems by the tired monk. You are having a cold harsh winter over there. Wrap your robes warmly..........spring will come!

  9. This is a great poem and I'm taking the encouragement to heart... sometimes I lose sight of the importance of writing poems.

  10. Oh this says it all for a poet! My fondest wish is to write the last line when I am drawing my last breath!

  11. You need to digitize, no pages and no frozen ink, btw has it begun already (the apocalypse)?

  12. Ollie,

The priority even in the face of an apocalypse, should be to leave a forwarding address, even in a poetic form:)
Loved the presence of inspiration especially on a cold and frosty day...

    Warmest Sunday wishes,
    Eileen:)
