monks head bowed deep
in sun blocking hood
doubled up
fevers and chills
burning and sweeping
lingering mind rust debris
a thirty hour famine
a forced meditation
crack one eye
look through fading pain
brew a head steadying tea
ready again
for duties and prayers
Oh, poor monk! Rest and feel better. Thank heavens for tea!
ReplyDeleteI agree--poor monk! Hope he feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteBrother Ollie,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to read that The Tired Monk is struggling with the end of winter, a spring fever and a lack of energy..Perhaps the prayerful mode, might return some welcome graces..Energy and even a mild taste of Elvis;just to adjust the form of fever!!
Best wishes, Eileen
the monk is human, genteel and reverent
ReplyDeletehope he gets well again soon
much love...
Trust the tea does the trick!
ReplyDeleteWising health
ReplyDeleteHope he finds hie elixir of life
ReplyDeleteNo meditation can really be forced! This monk needs perhaps to join one of those orders that makes brandy! Thanks, Brother Ollie. k.
ReplyDeleteI like the thought of one eye cracked during meditation. It made me smile just a little.
ReplyDeletecrack one eye
ReplyDeletelook through fading pain
I could actually feel this scenario quite vividly.. hope the pain ends and happiness springs back :)
The enforced famine..very visual with that monk finally getting his first cup of tea to break the fast.
ReplyDeleteIll or seriously disciplined? I wondered at both possibilities and marvelled that either works.
ReplyDeleteThere is something poetic in a fever, and you have described the painful experience very well. I do hope you are feeling better again.
ReplyDeleteI'd offer a cooling hand and a cold compress to a fevered brow. :-)
ReplyDeleteHope he's alright soon and finds the health. He needn't let go of that :)
ReplyDeleteI'd be doubled up in fading pain from a 30 hour famine too....ouch...that's some discipline!!
ReplyDeleteA cup of tea never tasted so good...I bet :)
ReplyDeletetea (or coffee) can be reinvigorating. Here's to dedication and sense of purpose.
