aged temple dog

i)

aged temple dog
wakes slow
stretches out
old bent legs

heads out
on her
under table rounds

ii)

eyes are going
just a few dim shadows
flicker in the light

ears are pretty much gone
sounds are fading
dancing out just past perception

nose is rock solid good
reliable and true
one final sure and steady sense

  1. Oh, my heart winces in sympathy with the path just ahead for you both. Five years this January, and I still cry every time I think of him, which is so often. Sigh. Such beloved and utterly loving creatures, they are - so devoted.

  2. A tale of all dogs who live long...sad and beautiful.
