he said to bury my toes
wiggle 'em in the sun warmed sand
feel the tide reach in slow
I buried my toes in the wet damp earth
just some mouldering leaves...
no sand here
somedays the universe humbles you - and maybe that is a blessing - Peace to all you poets -
Brother Ollie
a little humbling goes a long way...
ReplyDeletethough i would say the dirt is just as effective in grounding us...though there is something special about the beach...
Life is so much about perspective isn't it? I have a pretty negative perspective of myself which luckily doesn't extend to others! This poem packs a punch, its raw and honest
ReplyDeleteSand through your toes and life in your soul. Great feeling and words
ReplyDeleteGod listens to each and every prayer....
ReplyDeleteMaybe God knows better - moldering brings new life under your feet.
ReplyDeleteHumbling is often required to get to one's essence. This poem addresses just the beginning of that process. Decomposition to recreate...
ReplyDeleteBrother Ollie,
