Poems by Brother Ollie: the Tired Monk
You are doing good work, Tired Monk........whether robes grow heavy or light, you are steadfast. Always lovely to see you posting.
That distance between us and God--that is the issue--really a touching write for me today
i get it (now)... hafiz- your separation from God,From love,Is the hardest workIn thisWorld.
Beautiful..the heavy robes work very well as a metaphor.
I can feel the weight of the robes, through heavy tears that weigh the heart down.
Simple, succinct, and conveying so much.
Maybe words can lift the weight of that robe... maybe it's the same we weight we can share.
Yes, for me, too, work has lessened the burden. I hope that God shows me the turn in this road.
"doing the workperforming"I feel this.
Such peace and tranquility in your words!!
Thankfully, monks go about their work as the world turns...........
the imagery is both stark and rich.. I imagine the burden as the soil and the monk working the land bringing him closer to God.. As so often getting out hands dirty does
I agree with Jae's comment re-the imagery is both dark and rich.
There is much to be said for praying, reaching out, and serving....
"lesseningthe burdenthat distancefrom God"A call to holiness yet you remain human until call to another realm, so tiredness is part of the programmeHave a blessed Sundaymuch love...
Yes, but remember there are no burdens only tasks that keep us in stride with our souls.ZQ
Thanks - I really dig this perspective.
