On Lunch and Basho's Bowl

lunch is left
down long paths
back in the distant dojo
today the tired monk
is the hungry monk

where is Basho's bowl?
    or a matted beard
filled with locust wings
sticky honey twigs

oh to be a Saint
ascetic beat and blessed

  1. I love this one so much, Ollie. I can see and feel the monk......love the longing to be a saint, and the beard full of locust wings and honey twigs is just inspired. Loved it.

  4. Ollie,

The tired monk is having a difficult day. Hunger is troubling his thoughts.
    His saintly aspirations are interesting....

  5. Oh, to be saint in the city.
First get stomach full of hamburger and beer...
    then save all beings.

To each his own, I guess.

I'm just pissed cause I'm tired of eating
locust wings and sticky honey twigs.

  6. Nice. Reminds of my old tatami days. I treasure those memories.

  10. Very oriental feel and interesting conceit - anything is good with honey :-)
