Christmas Lights

lights left hanging
now just dark strands
coming free from the eaves
flapping against the house
as the cold front moves in

  1. eerie, ollie,
as though all of humankind has vanished
and in its way it has,
dormant for a time until spring.

  2. Give me the old fashioned Nomas, anyday. Keep your icicle lights - please!
Although, I must admit the LEDs have a nice glow.

  4. "As the cold front moves in," Ollie at the moment those lines say much to me as I sit and wait, and wait, and wait for cold weather that is SUPPOSED to be here. This is a marvelous picture!

  14. There does seem to be a sense of hollowness, of void, once the season begins to pass. Somehow we need to seize that feeling of celebration and trot it out more often throughout the year. Wonderful poem and imagery.

  15. Old Ollie,

It seems to be the same post-Christmas pattern right across the world. A touch of sadness, until the natural sighting of the hope of spring time!!
