a monk's perception

i)

he talks
           proud

- the end of graffiti,
and broken glass

he smiles
            proud
                    so proud

ii)

but

the tired monk knows

bits of painted hate cling
untouched
missed in sandblast haste

iii)

the tired monk pauses
brushes tiny shiny
glass shards
from worn sandal soles

  1. ooh! what a strong metaphor, the sandblasting that leaves the teensy shards of hate. this is a great write, truly.

  2. And hate lingers... excellent depiction of an action, an opposing reaction and the inevitable permanent alteration in the world.

  3. Powerfully put, Ollie. I can see him, brushing away the flecks of glass.

Vivid imagery and lots of ways to keep threading this out--just a great write!

  6. Very thoughtful. Clinging hate is the worst kind.

  7. Love this - especially

    bits of painted hate cling
    untouched
    missed in sandblast haste

  8. The only way to get rid of hate is one shard at a time!
