Abbess at Dawn

no dawn daylight
no bird songs sounding
yet the Abbess awakes
to her day of duty

the tired monk rises
flicks on some low lights
brews her favourite tea
prepares a path
for his most loved one

  3. Old Ollie,

I must confess that I saw an immediate connection with my husband and myself!!!
He has been caring for me with early morning cuppas over the past few months, as I have been recovering from hand surgery.

I am not surprised by the generosity of spirit by the tired monk, towards the Abbess:)

  7. ...your writing so reminded me of the classic japanese writings & Hafiz --- delicate & pure & don't require to weigh too much as its intention & sincerity is enough for one to relate with... excellent... smiles...

  10. If he got up before her, awesome. If he got up because of her, awesome.

  12. Oh what a lucky Abbess she is, having such a kind and faithful, if not tired monk, to think of her each morning.

  14. There is a tenderness to this poem, Ollie. No one works harder or more selflessly than monks and nuns. The only payment is grace. Your moment in her day, rising and brewing tea in whatever the weather, is a lovely testament to that task. Thanks. Peace, Amy
