the quilt

bit of draft
  down here
low
on this hard wood floor

spread it out
 full and thick
rich in warm colours
 roll around, play
with scattered toys

a cancer blanket
 no more

  1. I am hopeful that it is repurposed...
and now perhaps can symbolize life...

  2. Wow. I can see the quilt when it was used to comfort a cancer sufferer, now played on by children - a very hopeful image to be left with. Beautiful, Ollie.

  3. A sad leftover becomes a new beginning for another--a cycle we shouldn't forget. I hold it willingly in the aftermath of your deceptively simple poem. I am sure the departed one would love knowing the quilt was in use.

  4. I love this movement and fluidity...life goes on and if not forget we can adapt...
