morning moments

fire stoking
in the first sun glints
coffee perking
furnace clicking on
whoosh of warmth
rolls across the floor
temple dog scurries
for cereal scraps

tired monk
 pulls a comb
 through damp novice curls
a most beautiful gift
from the abbess

  1. Ahhhhhh, I can see her curls. Love "a most beautiful gift from the abbess." Yes, she is.

A very pleasant insight to the morning routine with The Tired Monk. I particularly like the introduction of the young novice!! What a gift...

  5. So nice to read this again in the Pantry. It warms my heart, Ollie, the poem, and the fact of that little girl, the "most beautiful gift from the abbess".

  9. What wonder.. somehow I can smell the first stanza, and see the closeness between the tired monk and the novice in the second.
