gather

drawer tossed notebooks
beat up dog-eared n'good

binders jammed with poems
coffee ringed beauties

rumpled ragged songs
guitar case gems

loose and worn
my fallen, folded words

 - she says    gather
          gather them all
and find
   the narrative thread

  1. Wonderful, Ollie..........yes, do - what a book the Tired Monk could write, filled with his dog-eared wisdom.

  5. This is fantastic. Poignant and hilarious at the same time. I normally hate poems about writing, but this is a welcome exception.

  6. Brother Ollie,

It is lovely to look back and consider words written at other times. To understand the influence and the emmage, which still rests there, even after a period of gathering dust, or tiredness...I am glad that you have retained them all:)

    Happy Writing Days,
    Eileen:)

  8. So much history here--we all have our way of writing and when it carries so much life with it, it's wonderful!

  14. Brother Ollie,

Words which are well worth conserving for a second reading. Clarity can make the first thoughts seem different, and add a new dimension..
