Basho's Will

to the next tired monk
i leave
everything i own:

    one robe
    one bowl

  6. What else does a person need? Transitory food in the bowl, I suppose, but there can be great gain in working for that food yourself. What would it be to leave that to someone?

    I imagine your bowl. I've an old wooden one, a hundred years old. Sadly I don't need it. It sits on my table. I imagine a life lived in which it might regain its value.
