Flip Flopped

old boss?
no young
a youth promoted
up into the Abbott's rooms

a night he slips
into monks robes
the cloak of the novice
walks among us
his flip flops
give him away

  1. You're turning these out at breakneck speed. Impressed. To me blogging and poetry are like sausage making: stuff 'em and churn 'em. Really enjoying this monk story line.

  4. Is this good or bad, I wonder...

It feels playful on one hand and kind of sad for the passed over on the other.

  6. The image of the monk in the robe with the flip flops is interesting. Makes me wonder-- what shoes do the older abbotts wear...

  7. Ha! His flip flops give his youth away! It's funny how the small things sometimes expose us isn't it?

  8. Often wondered who it's harder on when a kid is the boss, I've had a few, and they ended up with my sympathy.

  12. Flip flogs give away a lot about a person. Love this!

  14. Reminds me of an assignment I had to write a poem featuring onomatopoeia; it was about flip flops.

I like the pun on "cloak."
