the Tired Monk's City - Night

i)

black city snow flies
settles in
cold
cast in blue lights

ii)

the Tired Monk
slips through drifts
walking stick steadies
a clearing...
stars and distant city lights

  1. You have captured a lovely image within the clearing (love that).

  3. Old Ollie,

Your image of the city has an auterity about it. Simply the impersonal feel, even with city snow...
Tired Monk lives in a better place. The city is far enough away to allow him the peace he requires..
( Rather like myself living in Macclesfield, as opposed to the city of Manchester. Thanks for your comment Ollie!!)

    Best Wishes, Eileen

  4. I really like the sound of these lines:
    'the Tired Monk
    slips through drifts
    walking stick steadies'

  5. So beautiful - makes me want to go for a walk at night! In the country the stars are glorious.

  8. You draw the tired monk clearly, and then the whole scene is lit by that last line.

  9. that "black snow" only appears when the lights are behind it... it's a specific image that always surprises me.
