turns out every prayer
is answered
yes - no - later
no quick conduit to God
even monks have to wait
lately I've rounded out
and aged into the time
of seeing old prayers answered
yeah - dusty - almost forgotten,
but answered all the same
praying
is the miracle
Ah yes in his time not ours, and while we wait, we continue to pray

A perfect 'waiting' prayer/poem ........
ReplyDeleteI like this poem very much. I pray a lot. I wait a lot. Maybe the waiting IS the answered prayer. Because I wait in the presence of God. Always. Amen.
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes they are answered fast. (Usually, but not only, when they involve healing for others.)
ReplyDeleteInteresting assertion, your conclusion; I'll ponder that awhile.
Praying to God probably relaxes us so we see what we need to do after all.
ReplyDeleteI love this - every prayer answered, sooner or later.......sometimes it takes a long time.
ReplyDeleteI'm very late to comment, but I love your prayer poem. So much truth here.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem, Ollie!
ReplyDeleteAh, a prayer to time. A prayer to wait, the answer will come. I prayed for a poem--and the Tired Monk arrived. Nice work.
